THE COMPANY
The premium brand Blomberg is a subsidiary of Arçelik A.Ş., which is one of the biggest manufacturers in European household appliances market.

ACHIVEMENTS
As a result of its heavy investment in R&D, Blomberg became the owner of Europe’s most energy saving refrigerator/freezer.

In February 2004, Blomberg was awarded the Energy+ Award by the European Commission for its refrigerator/freezer being the most energy-efficient to be ever produced in Europe.
                                                         
In November 2004, Blomberg washing machine WAF 1560 S received the PLUS X AWARD for outstanding design from Germany’s biggest contest in consumer electronics market.

The modern and appealing design convinced the jury of the well-known Design Centre North Rhine Westphalia in 2005. Blomberg Logitronic dishwasher GSN 1580 X received the red dot award 2005, which is among the
world famous design awards.

In the same year, Blomberg heat pump dryer TKF 1350 S was listed in “EcoTopTen” by German Eco Institute for its top quality, energy-efficiency and eco-friendliness.
                                                                               
In June 2005, Blomberg received the German PLUS X AWARD with its two products in three categories; Logitronic dishwasher GSN 1581 X was awarded in the two categories “Design” and  “Innovation”. Heat pump dryer TKF1350 S receives the certificate for “Innovation”.

THE COMPANY - Overview of Blomberg
For decades, Blomberg’s premium branded products have been known for their outstanding product quality, technological cleverness, and for well-engineered appliances with contemporary designs.

The birth of the name Blomberg goes back to 1883, when the metal processing company in Ahlen/Westfalia, Germany was founded. In 1936, Blomberg laid the foundation stone for the production and distribution of household appliances by introducing additional wholesale and retail operations.
Blomberg was acquired by Arçelik A.Ş in 2002.
The company started to launch a brand new product range in 2004 including full product range of freestanding and built-in appliances.

Arçelik A.Ş., which is one of the biggest household appliances manufacturers in Europe, has a production capacity of 11 million units per year. Completing its 50 years in 2005 as the market leader in Turkey, Arçelik A.Ş. targets an annual turnover of 3.5 billion Euros in 2006.

Presenting environmental friendly products, developed with high tehnology is among the fundamental principles of Arçelik A.Ş.. The company manufactures all its products by using high technology and has a broad distribution network that includes 4.500 authorized dealers and 900 authorized services.

Arçelik A.Ş. dominates more than the 50% of Turkish market with its Arçelik, Beko and Altus brands. With its product quality, flexible management understanding, effective sales and marketing strategies, Beko, providing the consumers with one of its products in every 2 seconds in more than 100 countries, competes with global leading companies in its sector. Arçelik A.Ş. has started to operate in home furniture and textile sector since 2005 with its brand, Arstil.

Arçelik A.Ş. acquired German household appliance company Blomberg, Austrian Elektra Bregenz, English cooking appliances brands Leisure and Flavel, and Romania’s biggest household appliances manufacturer Arctic.

Corporate Social Responsibility
Adopting “our most precious asset is our human resources” philosophy, Arçelik A.Ş. performs its activities within the framework of its corporate social responsibilities and by working together with its employees and its associates.

Believing “sharing with the society” philosophy, Arçelik A.Ş. has initiated very important projects in the field of social responsibility.

The company signed a protocol with the Ministry of National Education, for its “Standing United for Education with Arçelik A.Ş.” corporate social responsibility project, which was implemented in March 2004. Implementing the project that is planned to last for eight years, the company aims to improve the quality of education and to contribute to the development level of Turkey by reaching 200.000 students and 6.000 teachers at 300 regional elementary school.

 Establishment
1955: Establishment of the company in Sütlüce.
1959: Production of the first washing machine in Turkey.
1960: Production of the first refrigerator in Turkey.
1968: Manufacturing plant moved from Sütlüce to Çayırova.

• One Product-One Plant
1975: Production began at  the Eskişehir Refrigerator Plant.
1977: Establishment of Ardem, manufacturer of Cooking and Heating Appliances Company together with Türk Demir Döküm Company. Beginning of production at the Eskişehir Compressor Plant.
1979: Inauguration of  the İzmir Vacuum Cleaner Plant.

• Quality-Technology
1991: Establishment of the R&D Center. Establishment of the Consumer Information Service.
1993: Production begins at the Ankara Dishwasher Plant.
1996: Establishment of the Air Conditioner Plant at Çayırova.

• Restructuring
1998: Artesis Company established. 3 years guarantee application started. Six Sigma Methodology implemented.
1999: Arçelik acquired Ardem Cooking and Heating Appliances A.Ş.. Also, Türk Elektrik Endüstrisi A.Ş., Atılım A.Ş., Beko Ticaret A.Ş. and Gelişim A.Ş. merged under the name of  Arçelik A.Ş..

• Globalization
2000: Arçelik-LG Air Conditioning Industry and Trade Inc. started production.
2001: National marketing and sales operations of Beko products managed by Beko Ticaret are now under the management of Arçelik A.Ş.
The İzmir Vacuum Cleaner Plant and Topkapı Motor-Pump Plant merged and relocated to Çerkezköy in order to improve efficiency.
2002: Arçelik A.Ş. acquired companies and brands in Europe in parallel with its strategy of international growth.
2002: Beko became the market share leader in British refrigeration market.
The Digital Living Project was demonstrated for the first time at the Hometech Fair in Berlin.
2003: Sales of smart appliances commenced.
2004: Decision made to invest in Russia
2005:  Arçelik A.Ş. celebrated its 50th anniversary. Foundations were laid for the Russian production plant.The Arctic chest freezer production line became operational. First national dryer produced. Blomberg product range was carried out. Arstil furniture stores became operational.

2003: “2003 Company of the Year for Turkey” Award - The Banker Magazine of the Financial Times.

2004: “Excellent Plant Award” to Eskişehir refrigerator plant and “Sustainable Excellency Plant Award” to Çayırova washing machine plant, by the Japanese Institute JIPM for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). 

2004: The Prestigious German “iF Design Award” to the Turkish Coffee Maker.

2004: Beko dishwasher was named among the products, which have superior performance in energy efficiency, by Energy Saving Trust, an English government organization.

2004: Beko dishwasher was named among the best models for its performance and quality by the Germany’s most prestigious consumer magazine “Stiftung Warentest”.

2005: Beko branded dishwasher
D 8879 FD was chosen by the Belgian Consumer Association in their publication Test-Achats/ Test-Aankoop of April 2005 as BEST BUY due to its excellent price-performance ratio. The organization represents Belgium within the European Consultative Consumer Group (ECGC).

2005: Beko branded washing machine won the “Brand of The Year” award. Beko brand is the first and only Turkish brand, which has participated and been rewarded with a gold medal at this competition, organized for the fifth time in Belorussia. Beko brand, existing in this market since 2003, is awarded for its success in developing and advertising activities.

2005: Elektra Bregenz was twice-awarded with the PLUS X AWARD. Dishwasher GSN 6490 received awards in the categories “Innovation” and “Design” and heatpumpdryer TKF 3500 convinced in the category “Design”. The PLUS X AWARD is Germany’s biggest contest in consumer electronics market.
